Sixth anniversary of death

emmalindner6

Over the past 30 days, we have seen the coronavirus pandemic take hold in the UK, as we have remembered our time with Thomas. So many emotions and difficulties have run parallel, separated by six years, and have made the time emotional.

Facing the thought of losing another member of our Cotton Clan, knowing only too well that it doesn't always just "happen" to other people. Facing disruption to our normality. Facing cancelled plans and long overdue catch ups with friends. Facing a huge amount of uncertainty over the immediate future and the coming months. Facing a loss of control and heightened feelings of anxiety. Facing a juggle of normality, routine, childcare and work commitments. Facing ways of finding hope for the unrecognisable future.

Equally, it has provided a reminder of the immense value of family that had become so apparent during our time with Thomas. Provided additional family time, not only with us constantly being together, but also at home, with no reason to go out. Provided amazing support from our beautiful and loyal extended family and friends. Provided us with the comfort that we can, once again, count on the incredible support and expertise of our wonderful health system. Provided extra time spent in the splendour of the daffodils, watching them bud and flower, in the early spring sunshine.

Not a day we ever wanted to mark, but a day that is too significant to go unnoticed. Always and forever one of us but missing your physical presence as much as ever.
