Throughout the years, I am invited to watch my children participate or perform at various events. This can either be through school or preschool, for example in class assemblies, nativities, sports days, concerts or harvest festivals, or through other activities, such as Beavers/Cubs ceremonies. For all of these activities, I am attending in my role as their mum. Someone to support them, to praise them, to be proud of them and for them to share their interests and life experiences with. I make time to attend these events and will do my upmost to be part of them.
It is in this same capacity that I will do the same for Thomas. Whether we attend the annual remembrance service for him at Helen House or at his woodland, the annual Snowdrop Walk for CBUK, or participate in the annual Wave of Light. I do so in my role as Thomas' Mum and deliberately make time to be part of them. They are events that get written into the diary and any routine activities that clash get pushed to one side. I too am there to praise him, be proud of him and to share that moment in my life with him. I do so for each of my four children.
